Girl of the Year Award

We are now accepting Applications for the 2017 Girl of the Year Award

The absolute deadline is March 10, 2017. Visit the Documents page for downloading different options for the application.

The “Girl of the Year Award” was initiated in 2015 by the Zonta Club of the Northampton Area.  Wishing to encourage the emerging interest in volunteer service often demonstrated by girls ages 10-15, the Club established this special recognition and actively solicits nominations from adults in the community.

Alice Wanamaker, a 7th grader at White Brook Middle School in Easthampton, was selected as our 2016 Girl of the Year.

Alice WanamakerAlice Wanamaker was nominated for the award by one of her teachers, who wrote that Alice has been a dependable and dedicated volunteer in several school-sponsored programs since 4th grade.  Her energy is directed to local service at the Easthampton Community Center, as well as raising funds for successful annual projects.  One such endeavor resulted in the presentation of 57 goats to the women of Kalthana, India.

We believe that the service promoted at her after-school activities has given this young lady the opportunity to develop leadership and management skills that will always be beneficial for her, and wonderful for her community.

Alice received $200 award at the 2016 awards brunch.

We are looking forward to reviewing new nominations for 2017.
